Embodying Chaos
This research project will explore the impact of chaos and instability- emotional, physical, mental, circumstantial, biological- on the trajectories of people’s lives, with a focus on the act of fleeing and escape. It will continue to grow and develop in collaboration with specific charities, community groups and individuals in and around Brighton.
The research will culminate in two interconnected creative offerings- A roguish live performance work-Holy Moly Mother of Chaos- & a short film- Flee Fly Flow Flum. Both named like words from children’s rhymes to represent the way I will be working rhythmically and playfully with material recorded from 1:1 interviews and podcasts/news streams. In the live performance piece this rhythmical approach will inform the choreographic score created when layering voice, movement and live music. In the film, intricate editing of the interview recordings and visuals will help to evoke feelings of chaos, turbulence, serenity and fleeing/escape.
Both the live work and film will have future scope to be flexible across a broad spectrum of arts and community spaces.
This project is presently in the fundraising and development phase.
